At Veltex Recovery Group, we honor the diverse cultural and spiritual paths that support healing and transformation. For our Native American clients — and for others seeking a more holistic, tradition-based recovery experience — Wellbriety meetings offer a powerful complement to our core recovery programming.
What Is Wellbriety?
Wellbriety is more than sobriety. It is a movement rooted in Native American wisdom and traditions that focuses on healing not only the individual but also the generational trauma and cultural disconnection that often accompany addiction. Developed by White Bison, Inc., the Wellbriety approach merges the 12-step model with:
- The Medicine Wheel and Four Directions
- Cultural ceremonies like talking circles, smudging, and prayer
- Teachings from Native elders
- A focus on emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical wellness
Culturally Responsive Healing
At Veltex, we understand that healing is not one-size-fits-all. Our Wellbriety groups and gatherings are offered to:
- Honor Indigenous traditions
- Support identity restoration
- Provide culturally grounded recovery paths
Whether a client is reconnecting with their Native heritage or exploring indigenous wisdom as part of a spiritual journey, Wellbriety offers a safe and sacred space to explore recovery through a culturally enriched lens.
How We Integrate Wellbriety
Wellbriety is integrated into our weekly programming alongside standard AA, NA, and CoDA meetings. These groups are facilitated in alignment with White Bison’s guidelines and offer:
- Talking Circles with peer-led sharing and mutual respect
- Teachings on intergenerational trauma, forgiveness, and resilience
- Culturally sensitive materials and ceremonial practices
By incorporating these meetings into our treatment model, Veltex helps clients reclaim identity, reconnect with community, and restore balance in all aspects of life.
A Path of Balance and Purpose
Recovery through the Wellbriety path is about walking in balance — with the self, with others, and with the Creator. For many of our Native clients, this approach affirms identity and heritage in a deeply healing way. For non-Native clients, it often offers profound insights into connectedness, humility, and spirituality.
